Okko Design in the article "Life after Formex (2019)" by Lotta Ahlvar, event manager at Formex.
Before the fall’s big exhibition in Formex’s entrance hall, Li Edelkoort, curator of he exhibition and its selection, was introduced to Marja-Liisa Okko and her brand Okko. This meeting resulted in several of Okko’s sound absorbers being displayed in the exhibition. Marja-Liisa vOkko’s functional, beautiful and unique products use traditional materials such as hemp, peat and felt in very innovative ways to create truly investing design - but just as importantly, they also incorporate aspects of both recycling and upcycling. During the fall, Marja-Liisa Okko visited Li Edelkoort and her students at Parsons School of Design in New York, where Li Edelkoort is Dean of the newly created Hybrid Design Studies. The results from the student cooperation that has started will be exhibited at Salone del Mobile in milano in the spring.
